Great airport, really nice design. Many restaurants offering really good food at reasonable prices. We cleared immigration quickly, no waiting times at all. It did not take long for luggage to arrive either. You’ll find there many shops offering local SIM cards. Just wait with exchanging your money into Thai Baht until you’ve left the arrival area. The prices in the main halls are much better. In the underground floor, next to the Airport Link Train entrance you’ll find three exchange outlets offering the best rates. There are many ways to get from there to the city depending on how much you wanna spend and how quickly you wanna get into the city centre. In the 3rd floor there are many restaurants. We had lunch at a Japanese one. It was delicious. Definitely a great standard as for an airport.

I can confirm the basement level near the 7-11 was the best when I was there. Temperature was comfortable, but would swing from a little cool to a little warm. But definitely not freezing. Nearly all the seats I saw were free of armrests, and lots of people using them. I found a spot to sleep pretty easily however. There was also a security guard in the area, and the basement was quieter than the other levels. I didn’t see a toilet on that level tho, and the area was brightly lit, so bring an eye mask. Each level above the basement also had lots of seats, but it seemed each higher level had more and more people occupying the seats, and more noise as well. The observation deck is very quiet and dark also, but it’s mainly floor sleeping. It’s also not as cold as other levels, if you prefer that. Overall, I found BKK to be a great, safe airport to sleep in.

This is a pretty good airport. Security screening was fast and efficient. Passport control was a bit unruly- no staff to guide the main line into smaller channels so plenty of people cut. Once inside the airport, there are a lot of charging stations, an expansive duty-free shop, and numerous dining options. Food is expensive- fast food (McDonald’s, subway, Burger King) cost far more than their non-airport counterparts. I would recommend bringing in your own food/ snacks.

One of the best and biggest airports I’ve ever seen: there are many services and skilled staff members in there. You will find tiny shops for souvenirs, a 7-Eleven and even cafeterias/restaurants. It’s always cleaned, bright and full of people. You can reach it in many different ways (bus, taxi, Bolt) and choose one of the many entrances. Also, you can find statues and typical Thai structures, together with their respective descriptions.

Navigating Challenges

Domestic departures : rarely seen such nasty and rude staff with foreigners , be aware with your electronics , especially if you have a power Bank ! I had to throw mine (or not being allowed to catch the flight ) because they wouldn’t read properly about his capacity… that’s so insane , I travel a lot and never seen this anywhere else ! To check the power Bank yes it’s common at many airports, but to forcing to throw away ?! Seriously ?!

A Race Against Time

The immigration process at departure should be more effective. There are hundred of people waiting to pass immigration counter but only 7 or 8 staffs are working to process. Although we checked in more than 2 hrs ahead, we need to run thru all the way to meet boarding time. Should consider proper system in place if manual process is not effective.

Nice Airport. Huge improvement on food and toilets. Airport is cold enough, and clean. However, VAT refund is a hassle and the staff didn’t stamped on all of our receipts. When we finally checked in and arrive inside, then we realise our claim is being rejected due to no stamp. This is frustrating because we can do nothing about it. Can only kiss our money goodbye. Conclusion: pls check all your receipts being stamped before checking in.

Brilliant airport..so very well maintained. It’s a huge airport with smooth flow of pax .. the airport is well connected with the metro and bus, (local transport).. which takes you directly to the main city centre.. Many duty free shops at the departure terminals.. and few at arrival .. the airport offers good view of the aircraft parked, landing and take offs..

Very large airport, during peak time got through security checks fairly quickly compared to other airports. I lost my baggage when I arrived here and the people were helpful. The airline lounge area reminds me a little of the Hong Kong lounge areas, similar layout.

Quite a spacious Airport. There are heaps of food stall choices and coffee shops with free charging ports. The exterior design is stunning and interior is relatively straightforward. There are some magnificent local sculptures inside that showcases Thailand Culture. Foreign currency exchange are available at most floors. The check-in process is also fast despite having many travellers. The loading & unloading area (cars) might be a little busy at times, but there are assigned security personnel who always control/improve the situation.
